TALES OF NEW EARTH is a sci-fi novel about human colonization of a true ‘water planet’ – a planet that is almost totally covered with water. There are no ice caps and only the tops of a few active volcanoes protrude above the sea. The colonists will therefore have to live on floating dwellings like the Hong Kong ‘boat people’ and make their living from the world ocean. Since there are no land animals, there were no mammals (e.g., seals, dolphins or whales) or birds (e.g., penguins) whose ancestors returned to the sea. The only life forms on the planet are marine creatures similar to microbes (such as phytoplankton), plants (such as algae) and animals (such as mollusks, crustaceans and fish) on Earth. They come into contact with an intelligent race that has evolved in the planet's world ocean. The two races develop peaceful relations and fight a common enemy. The author has a lot of imagination and provides a lot of detail out the alien race and their technology.
